DescriptionHi, friend! Thanks for coming this far. I would love to connect and see if we can find some shared spark to work off of. If you feel what I'm writing resonates with you, please reach out, if just to say hi! I'm a writer at the core. Having written all my life (about to push 50 now), it's something that I feel strongly compelled to do on a daily basis. Having done it for such a long time, it's my go to for whenever something touches me on an emotional level. When I go through joys and hardship. When life throws curveballs. I'm there, trying to catch them in the form of a song. If we're to write together, I think what I can bring to the table is that keen awareness of the life within. The desire to connect and share experiences through words and music. And the ability to drill down to the core, unearthing the proverbial golden nugget. I'm not tied to a specific genre. I mostly write within indie, indie/folk, singer/songwriter, country and pop. I'm curious and excited about new experiences, so if you're looking to write something outside of that, it could be fun! All the best, Jon
Dreams & AmbitionsMy ultimate goal is just to keep writing, keep catching those little ephemeral sparks while they flicker, and turn them into expressions that have an universal appeal, that let others see their own life and experiences in the writing. I don’t know about you, but for me there is no more potent combination than that of words and music to reach in and touch me in places that other things often cannot. I can put on a piece of music and dissolve into tears within seconds (the opening to Lion King, or Sufjan’s Death With Dignity). Or dream myself away, or feel on top of the world. To be able to put something into the world that can do that for someone is magical, a privilege and hugely rewarding.
EquipmentI operate out of my own studio built on a separate part of our property. It’s a fully operational studio, although not meant for full bands at a time. I’ve got a drumkit, loads of guitars and string instruments, keyboard, a selection of dynamic and condensator microphones and I’m mostly on Logic, although I dabble in a few more. I’ve got more VSTs than I care about and a rich selection of instruments within most genres, including cinematic ones from Spitfire Audio. I play anything I can get my hands on, a happy amateur in most, but I get the job done.
Use of AII use AI as a co-writer. We talk over the theme of the song, distill the core message, try different alternatives and sharpen the idea. Being a non-native English speaker, it's a great sparring partner for coming up with word suggestions, and to check the lines afterwards, if they hold up and sound natural. I think my fingerprint is strongly evident in the final results, because I write about things I know about, that touches me where I am in my life. And although I dabble in different genres, I also have my own style of writing that shines through. After having written songs in the hundreds, I can also safely say that you don't get songs to the level you want, with the right expression, without knowing how to take it there, what works and not. AI is just one of the tools that can help you get there.

(This song is about poet Emily Dickinson) Verse 1 They found her pages in a drawer Bound with ribbon, blue, folded gently Like the dresses that she never wore to town A hundred thousand sunsets, never seen Never read aloud Verse 2 I picture her beside the window frame Watching lilacs bend — in April’s ember Did she ever long to hear her name On strangers’ lips, like it was a treasure? Chorus I wonder if she was thinking: If a poem lives and no one reads it Did I live at all, or was I dreaming? Is a masterpiece a masterpiece If it remains within the seams? Nobody knew, nobody knows Nobody knows but me Verse 2 The garden gate was always open But her footsteps never strayed Did she trace the sky through windowpanes Let birds carry her away? One need not be a Chamber - to be Haunted Or, so her own words say Chorus I wonder if she was thinking: If a poem lives and no one reads it Did I live at all, or was I dreaming? Is a masterpiece a masterpiece If it remains within the seams? Nobody knew, nobody knows Nobody knows but me Bridge Maybe she never needed us at all— Maybe the words were enough — just to write them down Maybe she never thought of legacy Just the quiet sound— Of ink on Paper— Breath on Glass— That Fireflies Flicker, oh so fast— The Hush of Petals when they Fall— The Slant of Light on winter afternoons— The Buzz of a Bee in a still room Chorus I wonder if she was thinking: If a poem lives and no one reads it Did I live at all, or was I dreaming? Is a masterpiece a masterpiece If it remains within the seams? Nobody knew, nobody knows Nobody knows but me
